Mossiness
This checkerboard effect is created by planting Sagina subulata (green) and Sagina subulata Aurea (yellow).Otherwise known as Irish and Scotch moss. I planted up this flat at work this year as a possible way to sell it to our clients. I have been doing this for years at home and then of course, in the latest issue of Martha she's got the configuration as a centerpiece on a table so I guess that means she invented it. Anyway, last year I covered my dogs grave with a large planting of the 2 in a checkerboard on the edge of the woods with Violas intermixed. It looked groovy. And don't you just love saying Sagina? I could say it all day. Sagina, Sagina, Sagina, Sagina, Sagina.

Latest Mosaic Pieces
So we recently had an Earth Day art show and I whipped out these pieces for it. I use recycled art glass from my friend Lauri who does glass work.
This is a planter I made. Possibly good for a succulent garden? I guess I will find out since I didn't sell it. It is quite large, almost 3 feet long. I like the undulating shape. Actually it was inspired by specific plants. I think it would nice with Echiveria and some larger types of succulents. We shall see.
Below is a small lamp I made using glass and broken porcelain and an old lamp fixture as the top. Moody isn't it?

Love Story Junk
I have in recent years cooled my buying of junk that sits around but on a recent visit to the local thrift store I came upon this little music box and had to get it, it plays the theme to Love Story and has dipicted Jenny and Oliver in such stunning detail it feels as if Ryan and Ali are right in the room with me. Not. You gotta dig their groovy matching pendant necklaces? It's like one step beyond love beads. I don't recall in the hundred times I have seen the movie that they shared a passion for jewelry. Jenny seems to have a bun in the oven with that shift top on and Oliie has her in sort of a death grip "make one wrong move bitch and I'll snap you in two." With a smirk on his face. You gotta love love.
Their likenesses are uncanny.
